Monday Artday: Join Us

Spread the love

I was accepted to yet another illustration blog, monday artday. Every Monday, they offer a challenge and the first one I did is this week’s – “Join Us”.

come to this house/be one of the comfortable people

They have a lot of puppies and flowers and children playing and smiley faces.
I hope they don’t kick me out.

Let me know what you think.

  1. Zombies can’t hurt you unless they surround you. When Zombies are near, stay out of old houses, shopping malls, caves and pubs. See a zombie? Just walk away.

Welcome to Monday Artday, Josh. If I squint my eyes these guys look almost like puppies, so I guess you can stay. 🙂

  2. HAHA oh my gosh… I never thought monday artday would be thought of that way!! I guess its the cute birds that do it huh? Maybe it makes people want to design cute stuff? You can post WHATEVER you WANT! its really based upon your art, ability, improvement, and involvement. 😀

  3. Had John Graham Mellor not passed away then this might been used for the cover of the Clash’s album in the year 2022. The album would have been called Stop Calling London.

For those who are not Clash literate: the album that I am referencing is London Calling by The Clash (circa 1979). John Graham Mellor is better known as Joe Strummer. The year 2022 is a play on the date that Joe Strummer died, 12/20/2002.

And, the lyrics reference Zombies (2nd verse – see below):

London calling to the imitation zone
Forget it, brother, you can go at it alone
London calling to the zombies of death
Quit holding out – and draw another breath

Then again, Van Halen has decided to reunite with Roth. They might be able to use the image for t-shirts, tour programs, etc since they seem to bear a striking resemblance to the characters. And it wouldn’t be line since they used portions of The Maze by William Kurelek (cover of the album Fair Warning) which features zombie like characters.
