First, according to an article by Katherine Ramsland, “the prosecutor had no reservations about leaving him in the hands of psychiatrists.” Although Prosecutor Cohen emphasized that the killer had not been declared insane, there was no trial and Unruh was incarcerated in a facility for the criminally insane, so I can draw no other conclusion than it was decided he was unfit to stand trial. I have not spoken to anyone connected with this case and my story was written purely on my own research.

Second, I will happily admit that my math skills aren’t up to my illustration skills.

Third, Unruh’s plaid bowtie was hanging at the back of his closet. He picked it out special for the occasion.

Oh, and while your closing about outliving his youngest victim by 86 years is cute, it’s also wrong — unless you know that child would have died at age 88. One thing he did do was to outlive all his murder victims by 60 years; let’s just leave it at that.
