I saw him on a truly crappy talent show called "5 minutes to fame" or something, where he was actually "gonged" off stage by the unappreciative audience. I guess if you don't rap, sing like Beyonce or Timberlake, or dance hip hop, today's audience doesn't want to give you the time of day. I recently came across the Wid as he hosted a Trivia Night at a small local Philly pub. I mentioned that I had done stand-up back in the '80s, he even introduced me a few times, and we reminisced for a bit about the clubs that are no longer around, like The Comedy Works, Comedy Factory Outlet and Bananas. I sensed a bit of sadness and longing in his voice. Not sure if he's still performing on stage as regularly as then, but he always cracked me up. My favorite line of his, after he holds up a roll of toilet paper and says that it's his diploma from Temple U., he says, "I could have gone anywhere, but I chose Temple. That's like saying, I could have gone to Le Bec Fin, but I chose Wendy's." Love that!

I'm just grateful that I get to see/hear/inspire your comic genius every day. I would pay to see an encore stand-up performance. You are funny.

Well, that was certainly a walk down memory lane! I adored George Carlin and Johnny Carson, boy are we telling our age! Richard Pryor was a scream, although, it took me a while to get over the profanity! Great illustration!
