I spent a large part of my childhood perusing the racks at that same Sam Goody store. At various points in the summers, I used to walk the two or three miles down Cottman (from the intersection of Township Line and Church Road) to look for the latest music there. Good memories.

Awesome! And your illustration looks just like you. The coolest thing I bought at eight years old was fake dog doo. Fun for a while, but not quite the lasting impression of the Beatles' white album. Well, almost.

My story is musically similar as yours. I had the Hair Soundtrack (and Jesus Christ Superstar Soundtrack, which I understand wasn't a big attraction in your house), the 5th Dimension, Partridge Family, Banana Splits and FlexiDisks from the backs of cereal boxes featuring Bobby Sherman.

My epiphany came during a visit to Garwood Mills' music department. A mysterious album with a photo of the Hindenburg disaster called to me from the record bin: Led Zeppelin I.

I have never again reached that level of cool in my life and probably never will.
