I lived with my Mom and Dad in A.C. for a year in 1963: I was 7. The Orient Express fascinated and terrified me in a way only kids can understand. I was ok riding it with my Dad, but I never had the guts to take him up on an offer of $10.00 - a fortune to a kid in '63 - to ride it alone.

Thank you. Boy did this bring back memories. The sound the car made when it took the dip still rings in my ears.

Really enjoyed the story. I remember vacationing in ventnor in 67 and it is amazing how clear something can be, even now decades later.Atlantic City was amazing with Steel Pier, Steeplechase Pier, Central Pier and many movie theaters. There was the Kazoo Man and the Belgian Waffle Man, Planters, Rybas Fudge, Captain Starn's. The ocean however has never changed and remains so, but it was lots of fun....thanks for your take on AC.

The Orient Express sucked, and I LOVED it.

I miss those times. I wish I could ride that again. I also loved the walkthrough which I remember as Pirate's Cove. My dad took me once to see the Ape Girl. We sat in the front row. When she burst out of the cage, everyone in the audience ran screaming. Really. Except for us. I was ready to bolt, but my dad held my hand firmly, and made me stay. A life lesson from my dad -- women don't turn into apes.
